Neon pink glitter tips nails using gel and dual forms

These nails took a while to do as I used glitter gel and crushed ice which I thought would look really good - I loved them but the ice wasn't really visible when I had finished so was a bit of a waste of time, lesson learned! I had a lot of comments on these and they are one of my most favourite designs so far.

Purple with silver flames design using gel and dual forms

I used the dual forms with clear gel and then used regular nail polish to create the design - it took ages to dry because it takes a lot of polish on the tips to make the 'flames' next time I will use gel polish so I can cure it and not worry about waiting for it to dry.

French nails with white glitter tips

I wanted a simple French manicured look at first but when I had finished I thought that it looked too boring and so added some white glitter to the tips.  I'm glad I did, I was really happy with how they turned out.

Red and silver glitter tips using gel and dual forms

This was my first attempt at using glitter gels with dual forms.

I love the fact that when using dual forms you can spend as much time as you like 'creating' your design using both hands rather than having to use only one hand creating nail art on your own nails as you would in the traditional way.  I also love that when you remove the form, you are left with a smooth, perfectly curved, shiny surface - no wiping off residue, and no filing! That's if you put them on correctly and use the right amount of gel of course - it takes a bit of practice to get it right but it is so worth it!

Update for 2014

Hi, I'm back after a long time away! I have had another baby who is now six months old and so have been a little bit busy! I've done my nails a few times since the last time I posted so keep checking in for them..........

French white with freehand black and silver detail nail art

I did my nails in a french pink and white style but used white tips.  The tips didn't look right just white - there was too much white! So I added black and silver sweeps with my nail art pens. It broke up the white and made the design a bit more interesting.

 What do you think?
I will do it neater next time, this was just an experiment to see what it looked like.

Purple and silver glitter gel nails

Ok so for my Brother's Wedding I decided to wear a purple dress, but my shoes and bag were silver so I wanted my nails to have a bit of both.  I just left some silver at the tips but filed the smile line down and put the purple glitter there, leaving the tips silver.  I think they looked pretty good, my technique is improving!

The wedding went well and my Nails looked fab!

Silver glitter tip nails

I decided to do some party nail looks as my Brother's wedding was coming up, I couldn't decide to wear silver or purple so I went for silver a few weeks before to see how it looked:

I loved them!

Purple transparent gel with purple glitter

These are my favourites so far.  The colour is much deeper and the glitter makes them really stand out, it helps that purple is my favourite colour!

Sculpted gel nails with large pink glitter

I tried a similar effect as before but I wanted more glitter, so I mixed some large glitter with clear gel so I had more control of how much glitter was in the gel.

Clear sculpted gel nails with pink glitter

Here are some gel nails with pink transparent glitter gel.  The gel was clear with added glitter and so the colour is not very strong, but perfect if you want a more subtle effect.  I sculpted the nails on a form so that there was no tip visible.

I apologise for the picture quality, they were taken on my phone!

First attempt at water marbling on my own nails

Here is the my first attempt at water marbling on my own nails.  I made a huge mistake though and smudged them when I put on my topcoat!

Not bad for a first try, but will do better next time.

I put vaseline on my fingers to help clear the mess up which worked well but I might try taping my fingers next time to make it even easier.

Any tips about using topcoat after water marbling would be appreciated, I really don't want my designs to be smudged again!

I did some marbling on some tips which I will post in the next few days, they didn't smudge so should look much better than these pics.

Freehand pink and blue brush strokes nails

I did these, again, on top of my pink and white permanent french nails.  I used my Rio nail art polish pens, using the glittery pink and blue colours. I have not had these long so I'm still getting used to them and my hand isn't really steady enough yet - Plus I was using my left hand!

Let me know what you think, and if you've done something similar, let me have a look!

These would be fantastic NYE nails, shame I'm not going out - the joys of having a baby lol.  Enjoy your nights out anyone who is going out to celebrate - we are cracking open the wine when little Jacob is in bed! xxxxx

See you in 2013!
